Duties

We are looking for some grants this year:
1) to underwrite performances of traditional Americana music in Central America for a tour this summer, goal= $5000
2) for a benefit show for veterans healthcare projects: music development, webpage and promotion
al development & underwriting of shows, we are collaborating with veterans groups, and using the shows to raise awareness of veterans issues and in some cases to raise money for them.
We need someone knowledgeable, with a proven track record of raising funds for music projects, and creative and resourceful in identifying funding sources. We'd like someone with knowledge of private and family foundations, arts foundations, community funds, donor-advised funds, though I think there are also some leads possible, thinking outside the box, i.e. US Diplomatic Missions, CAFTA etc.

Anjna Patient Education (http://www.anjna.org) is a Stanford-based nonprofit organization that aims to utilize technology at free clinics. We are a national network of 250+ undergraduates and medical faculty that aim to create health education programs at free clinics in high need areas nationwide, in addition to conducting novel pilot studies on utilizing interactive, tablet based education and SMS technology at free clinics in California. Our work has been featured in Forbes, New York Times, the Huffington Post, a TED talk and a PBS documentary on social entrepreneurship, among others. As a small but growing nonprofit, we are looking to hire a fulltime employee to serve as our Executive Director.
If selected, you will be working not only to scale a growing and exciting nonprofit, but also working to fulfill a severely unmet need in the American healthcare system. You will lead our group of volunteers and volunteer team leaders, and report directly to our board of directors, comprising an impressive group of physicians, venture capitalists, executives and nonprofit leaders. Individuals and recent graduates with a track record of leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, relationship building, effective management and an interest in medicine and/or public health are strongly encouraged to apply.
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Development Officer serves as a key leadership team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting XYZ Nonprofit. In partnership with the CEO, this position is responsible for all fundraising and development activities. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build Anjna's visibility, impact, and financial resources. The VP, Development also will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support.
The Chief Development Officer will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow our budget through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support.
S/he will expand and diversify Anjna's donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition, the VP will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role. It is expected that the amount raised by Anjna will increase in future years as the CDO systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity.
Responsibilities
- Support and partner with the CEO and board members on all major fundraising initiatives
- Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to develop and implement Anjna's financial strategy
- Actively work with the CEO and senior staff to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants, etc.
- Have primary responsibility for development and execution of all proposals; write and archive all proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach
- Oversee research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position Anjna ahead of major funding changes or trends
- Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to board and senior leaders
- Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
- Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program
- Identify, develop, and mentor the development team
Qualifications
- 10-plus years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
- Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
- Strong organizational skills
- Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives
- Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Anjna
- Bachelor's degree required
- High energy and passion for Anjna's mission is essential
- Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail

Position Description: Responsibilities include overseeing program, strengthening and developing existing and new partnerships with hospitals and schools, spearheading fundraising, and managing fiscal operations.
Program Management: Actively solicits new referrals and determines equipment needs of families and schools. Purchases and prepares equipment for delivery and follows up with program participants.
Fiscal Management: Works closely with Board to ensure that Hopecam is fiscally sound. Ensures that all financial operations, including income and expense activities, are tracked and recorded accurately, and in a timely manner using Quickbooks. Present budgets and financial reports to Board.
Fundraising: Oversees all aspects of fundraising. Plans and participates in fundraising to grow the donor base (individual, foundation, business/corporate) via mail, online, phone and in person solicitation and cultivation. Leads the effort to raise funds from institutional and family foundations, including writing grants. Works closely with the Board to help execute fundraising events. Ensures that donor records are accurate and well maintained. Ensures that donors' gifts are acknowledged in a timely manner and donors are communicated with on a regular basis to maintain relationship with Hopecam. Presents fundraising reports to Board.
Outreach and Marketing: Works to raise the visibility of Hopecam through outreach events, online marketing, and media. Works to increase number of Hopecam participants and community supporters. Develops relationships with government officials, educators, business leaders, civic organizations etc. in order to strengthen Hopecam. Ensures that the Hopecam website and social media are kept up-to-date and active with upcoming activities and success stories.
